Notting Hill Carnival

Returning to the streets of West London for the first time since 2019, Notting Hill Carnival will resume its usual dates on the August bank holiday weekend. Join the amazing Caribbean festival and enjoy the great food music and dancing.
With a great line up, including Years & Years, Underworld and Jungle, this year's Wilderness Festival looks like it's shaping up to be a good one. The 2022 themes are ‘Extreme Eccentricities’ for Friday, ‘Eclectic Geometric’ for Saturday and ‘Jubilee Jamboree’ for Sunday. With their request for sustainability, Wilderness Festival have urged festival goers to don the second-hand, borrowed and up-cycled.
Scribble & Daub Flower Drawing Workshop
Scribble & Daub will host a summer evening workshop at Tillingham vineyard, just outside Rye on 4th August from 6-8pm. You will be guided through creating a set of hand-drawn cards inspired by floral arrangements from Tillingham’s own in-house florist, using flowers gathered from the estate and their walled garden. Enjoy the workshop with a glass of Tillingham fizz and leave with a set of beautiful cards and your own dip pen and ink set.
This August, The Bright Land will transform the Somerset House courtyard into a wonderland with performances throughout the day and into the night of music, dance, talks, workshops and more. Created by Somerset House Studio artists Gareth Pugh and Carson McColl, This Bright Land is a Summer celebration of community and culture, and takes place from 1st - 29th August.
The National Gallery will host Summer on the Square this August, showcasing a programme of free, daily creative sessions and activities to inspire you to create your own masterpieces. Taking place from 11th - 29th August, Summer on the Square is a free festival of art, hosted outside on Trafalgar Square.

Ukrainian Chef Yurii Kovryzhenko has revealed plans to open his new restaurant Mriya, meaning ‘dream’ in Ukrainian, which he describes as a neo-bistro. Mriya will look to staff the restaurant with refugees who have been forced to leave Ukraine due to the war. Yurii says the restaurant will tell the story of modern and incredible Ukraine in the language of taste and cosiness. Opening soon!
Klimt: The Immersive Experience
The Klimt immersive experience has arrived in London and is a sight to behold. Experience the Austrian symbolist painter’s works in a unique virtual reality setting at The Boiler House at Brick Lane’s Truman Brewery and be dazzled by the floor to ceiling projections and virtual replicas.
Hampton Court Palace Food Festival
A family foody fun day out at Hampton Court Palace is on the cards for August. The palace garden gates will be thrown open for visitors to enjoy street food and boutique drinks while taking part in drinks masterclasses and the pop-up ProCook Cookery School.
Experience a masterpiece at Glyndebourne, the opera house nestled in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Glyndebourne has been hosting its annual summer programme of world class opera, taking place from 21st May - 28th August, so there’s still time to enjoy a performance at their indoor auditorium.
Talk & Lunch with Dan Pearson with Create Academy
Petersham Nurseries and Create Academy have joined forces to bring this lovely talk and lunch with Dan Pearson OBE, in conversation with Petersham Nurseries Head Gardener, Edward Parkinson together for a unique in-person event. Dan and Edward will be discussing themes from Dan’s recent Create Academy course, such as ethical approaches to the natural world, sustainability, seasonality and colour.

After arriving in South Africa, they gain interest in the intricacies of wine, become sommeliers and form the first ever Zimbabwe team to compete in The World Wine Blind Tasting Championships (the Olympics of the wine world).
