So this can go someway into explaining why I felt the need to hassle the creative group below to tell me what their favourite food and telly options are for the festive period.

At Christmas, we absolutely love to watch Christmas cookery TV specials, one episode after the other. Delia, mainly, of course, from the early '90s. And Two Fat Ladies! We're big Agatha Christie fans, so Hercule Poirot's Christmas will be on repeat for a while, too. At this time of year, more than any other, I want good comfort viewing.

Bread sauce is a big one for me. I could eat it by the spoonful, and I love making it: it's kind of therapeutic. I always enjoy making spiced ginger biscuits, too. We throw a party for neighbours in the country every year, and the day we spend faffing with decorations and preparing snacks is one of my favourite days of the year: we'll make a ham, and put platters of cocktails sausages in every room. I mean, it's not Christmas without cocktail sausages, is it?
