Twenty-Eight Stately Homes To House Your Next Shindig

I believe you may be well aware of my love for parties. It doesn’t have to lead anywhere specific, but I am constantly planning one. If I were to change careers, event planning would undoubtedly be my next line of work. When I was designing my wedding in 2019, it felt like second nature. I knew exactly what I wanted: the venue, the look, and the vibe. Imagine a colourful village fête, complete with a Ferris wheel, fairground games, food trucks, a tombola, face painting, and various kinds of music. Unfortunately, it never happened due to COVID-19, so we ended up getting married at a registry office on Marylebone Road instead, saving a lot of money. Ultimately, the result was the same—we are now husband and wife.
You can probably see why I tend to drift into imaginary scenarios. Since I didn’t get to fulfil that dream, I seem to think about it all the time. Coupled with the fact that many of my friends are now married, weddings seem to have fallen off the agenda.
So, here’s my reasoning for this somewhat miscellaneous content. I know weddings might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and even for a wedding enthusiast like myself after looking at over 200 wedding venues, I’ve questioned the entire concept. I blame this on bad wedding photography, the fixation on white dresses, and drones. Does it even count if you don’t have a drone shot of the venue? But hear me out: you may know someone planning a little shindig, or perhaps your niece or nephew is about to start organising theirs. And for most of you, we enjoy admiring beautiful old homes, which is exactly what the venues below have in common. Much like our Airbnb finds, these aren’t the typical wedding venues with all the bells and whistles. Most are homes sustained by this industry or simply places I find utterly beautiful. So, realistically, there should be something here to pique your interest. There have I made a case for this somewhat squishy content?
