Antique Gutta-Percha & Brass Rare Wee Willie Go To Bed Candlestick Circa 1850

A rare museum-quality example of a Wee Willie Winkie Candlestick, made from gutta-percha covering a brass frame.
Gutta-percha is a rubber-like material obtained from tree sap that became very popular around the middle of the 19th century and was used for a
a myriad of domestic and industrial purposes prior to the invention of
plastics.
The candlestick is in excellent condition with a good heavy solid base.
It measures approximately 5inch/ 12cm high.
