This striking mid-century oil on canvas by Swedish artist Märtha Bolin-Clason depicts a mountainous landscape inspired by Delphi, Greece. Rolling hills and cultivated fields are rendered in a patchwork of soft greens, ochres, blues and earthy tones, with a distinctive multi-storey building rising prominently to the right. Bolin-Clason combines simplified geometric forms with delicate, repeated brushstrokes, giving the landscape both structure and texture. Signed by the artist and dated 1960 a tergo, the work is presented in its simple gilt frame.
