A handsome pair of Arts and Crafts copper candlesticks, the stems fitted with a distinctive looped side handle, a practical and characterful feature rooted in the chamber candlestick tradition, here reinterpreted with the organic confidence typical of the movement. The drip pans are attractively scalloped, their undulating edges catching the candlelight beautifully, and the whole rises from a flowing circular base with a naturalistically shaped foot. The copper retains a warm rosy tone throughout. Circa 1900.
