Each sconce features a carved giltwood backplate in the form of scrolling acanthus foliage, from which two Rococo-style metal arms extend, each holding a fluted, urn-shaped candle nozzle with a worn gilt-bronze patina. The pairing of carved wood and cast metal fittings reflects a long-running European lighting tradition rooted in 18th-century Rococo girandoles, continued in this form into the early 20th century.
