Artist Biography

Karl-Erik Häggblad honed his artistic skills at Otte Sköld's painting school before advancing to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1951 to 1955. He burst onto the art scene with his first solo exhibition at Färg och Form in 1959, followed by another showcase at Gummesons Art Gallery in Stockholm in 1962. His work gained further prominence through several exhibitions at the Västerås Art Museum and Sundsvalls Museum, among other venues.

In 1961, Häggblad was part of a collaborative exhibition at Norrköping's art museum titled 'Four Reflections', sharing the space with Albert Johansson, Oscar Reutersvärd, and Gösta Werner. The same year, he joined forces with Kerstin Abram-Nilsson, Alf Olsson, and Philip von Schantz for the 'Graphic quartet' exhibition at Lorensberg's art salon.

A look back at his illustrious career was presented in a retrospective exhibition at Waldemarsudde in 1980. Two decades later, he graced the Art Academy with his work in 2002, and a commemorative exhibition celebrated his legacy at the Town Hall in Örnsköldsvik in 2003.

Häggblad's contributions extend beyond galleries; his public works adorn the walls of hospitals in Huddinge and Sundsvall, S:t Göran, and the Central School in Vilhelmina, as well as the Gideå Church, leaving a lasting impression with his distinctive artistic touch.
