A late 19th-century cast brass table lamp in the Gothic revival manner, the column richly decorated with repeating foliate and geometric ornament. The architectural form, with its stepped base and square shaft, reflects the Victorian taste for medieval and ecclesiastical motifs in domestic interiors, while the dense relief and warm tone recall, in passing, the brasswork produced in Ceylon for the British market.

Probably British, circa 1890–1910, and later rewired for modern use. A well-proportioned and decorative lamp, substantial in feel and suited to a desk, console, or bedside table.
