Set of Six Pewter Candlesticks, c.1930
Set of Six Pewter Candlesticks, c. 1930
Height 10cm
Cast in pewter with octagonal bases and tapering hexagonal stems, this cohesive set reflects the clean, architectural lines popular in Northern Europe during the early twentieth century. Each piece is stamped on the underside with the maker’s mark and the year letter G8, a code used within the workshop’s dating system, aligning the production to around 1930.
The candlesticks balance utility with a restrained elegance, their broad bases offering stability while the faceted stems catch the light in a quiet, deliberate way. Sets of this size are increasingly uncommon, particularly in such uniform condition, and would have been used either for formal dining or grouped on sideboards to create a soft, atmospheric glow.
Together, they offer a clear example of the period’s move toward simpler forms and honest materials, retaining a sense of craft without unnecessary flourish.
