A pair of calm, restrained studies of Swedish buildings by Fritiof Strandberg, an artist known for his steady eye and his affection for everyday northern landscapes. Strandberg often painted the quieter corners of rural life and these two works show that approach clearly. One canvas shows a pale house in deep winter, softened by snow and cold light. The other depicts a red facade at dusk with a more brooding tone. They work well together, each offering a different register of the Swedish countryside while keeping the same measured simplicity. The original frames remain and suit the paintings without distraction.
