A table lamp of pleasing form and evident craft, the stem turned in the barley-twist manner, a decorative technique with roots in seventeenth century European furniture making, here executed with considerable skill and rising cleanly from a faceted octagonal base whose angled planes catch the light with quiet elegance. The wood, a warm walnut, has acquired a fine patina over its sixty years. Fitted with a brass bulb holder and rewired with a bronze twisted cord.
