Kitchens. Are they the heart of the home? With the rise of the English tastebud, the kitchen has pushed its way to the forefront, claiming every viable square inch it can. Over the past decade, this has fed the call for open-plan living, but there seems to be a quiet return to more defined spaces. Kitchen, sitting room, dining room. That sort of thing. Still, the kitchen remains the hub. It’s where we talk, where we try things out, where we collapse at the end of the day. It also seems to be the backdrop for much of the online world. There are people on Instagram whose kitchens I’m fairly sure I’ve seen over a hundred times. Possibly more. A good kitchen can now make a career, so it’s no surprise the money is being spent.
