Years ago we interviewed Elliot for the Tat website. He was early in his career but had already made a firm name for himself. His career has flown. I follow it via the medium of Instagram, and each piece of his furniture turns my head. Not a quick glance, a neck-creaking twist that holds my attention for far too long. You are probably well aware of him and feel this is an odd call for attention, but we should be championing these young designers. If I were a person of means,

Members - Clothes That Caught My Eye
I will apologise for this needless sartorial addition to your life. I understand many of you will not care a jot about what I think of clothes. Why would you? My understanding of the fashion industry is patchy at best and my history of runway shows could comfortably fit on a Post-it note. But, like many of you, I enjoy wearing one or two decent bits of cloth. I love that fleeting moment when somebody asks where something is from, and I try never to miss the opportunity to com

I do apologies I am going to go into quite a garbled first suggestion, they later ones will be much more to the point -
Bath Decorative Fair
Firstly, we will start at the beginning of the month. Here I made my way down to Bath. Gosh, I do like Bath. Yes, it is ravished by the same

It has been rather a long time since I wrote one of these. I slightly dread them. There is always a great deal I want to say, but if I am honest I find the writing of it quite draining. By the end I start to sound like a holiday rep on amphetamines, using the word 'wonderful' like I am stuck on repeat. I realise can be a tiring combination. Believe me, it is as tiring to write as it is to read.

Being otherwise tied up, I’ve been a little lax in getting these musings down on paper. I know, the abundance of people dishing out lists online has become so relentless I sometimes wonder if there’s anyone left to buy all the things we so eagerly chirp about. But here I

Oh The Things I Have Seen Wretched Flowers To see something that truly makes you happy is a rare and special thing. So when I caught the first glimpse of these chainmail beauties, I knew they were different. In a world awash with replicas, it feels almost otherworldly to see these tall, structural luminaires, standing there with strength and charm, they are visions to my eye. 2. Itoh Men’s clothes hold a certain appeal for me. I’ve been known, on occasion, to share a wardrobe

Oh The Things I've Seen Lessons I’ve learned this week: hoping for the best while preparing for the worst is simply the only sensible way forward in this day and age. Posting political opinions on Instagram is a fool’s errand, bound to leave you feeling both stupid and angry. I’m sure I’ll be back doing it again, feeling exactly the same – as Rita Mae Brown wisely said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” In my constant hunt
