Members - Antiques That Caught My Eye (£500 & Under)
We released this list last week, but half the items were on sale at the time and fit the criteria of being under £500. To my shock and horror, when reviewing it again, I realised that many had since gone back up in price and were now well over their previously stated amount. It’s a tricky list to pull together, as between the time of research and publication, many of these beauties get snapped up — more’s the pity.

Antiques That Have Caught My Eye (£500 & Under)
Hey hey hey, there’s plenty below to keep you sweet. You could practically decorate an entire house with these picks — though you wouldn’t have a bed, or really any of those anchor pieces of furniture. But you’d have a decent collection of chairs, a few lamps, and some pictures. And honestly, I’ve seen worse houses out there.

Antiques That Caught My Eye (Over £500)
Good golly, Miss Molly — going to Frieze Masters last week was the first time I’ve truly wanted to be a millionaire. Well, perhaps not the first, but the yearning to own some of those works of art really took me by surprise. Antiques have much the same effect on me. For most of the below, one doesn’t need to be a great millionaire — just someone with a little weight to their pocket.

Here is the more expensive cousin to the Under £500 piece. Some of these will define a room. They have such heft and beauty that you need do little or no decorating around them. Hence the price. That said, I have still kept an eye on cost and there are one or two I think are real bargains. The main thing here is interest and beauty. Two of Tat’s guiding lights.

Those eagle eyed among you will notice we have split this into two halves. The partner to this piece lives on a separate page, where you will find antiques priced from £500. It felt sensible to divide them. If we only showed dream antiques, many would be left out of the conversation. Even £500 can be a stretch, though it is a little more within reach.

Here we have 30 or so antiques. I say ‘or so’ because I never bother numbering them and tend to lose track. To ward off any claims of false advertising – and to keep the litigious at bay – let that be your warning. On the brighter side, there’s a good load of beautiful things for your peepers to digest.

Here we have another round of excellent pieces — big, small, and everything that might be squeezed in between. I was particularly taken with the works on Marc Kitchen Smith’s website; one or two struck me as especially good.

As ever we have brought you a mixed bag of goods. By mixed I mean they all have a quality, a beauty, a delight, but of course some are more highly regarded than others. That is, of course, what makes Tat London kick

Members - Ravishing Antique And Vintage Art Under £500
Have you seen the cost of clothes lately? Or heaven forbid, the price of dinner out? One practically needs a small inheritance just to order a main course. No, you may not be splashing £500 on frocks and foie gras, but even so, it’s all getting rather absurd. So why not put that money somewhere it will actually last? Clothes fade, meals vanish, but art will stay with you — delighting the eye, nourishing the soul, and making your home all the nicer.

While I take the briefest moment away from Tat, I’ve asked a few people I admire to contribute some articles—ensuring the smooth running of this great vessel remains on course. The destination, as ever: intrigue and beauty.

Members - Something Old: Antique Wedding Gifts Under £100
My rule for weddings has always been: if they’re abroad, then — sadly for the couple — my presence is the present. I’ve never felt bad about it. If you’re asking me to browse a gift list while we’re simultaneously booking flights, hotels and taxis, you’ll understand why I won’t be clicking. And when you actually look at the tat that ends up on most wedding lists, I find myself quite bereft — reluctant to put my name to any of it.

A rather eclectic bunch we have here — but variety is that very spice of life we hear so much about. I, of course, adore all the pieces below and would find a place for each, given half the chance. Yes, the house might end up looking like a marvellous hullabaloo, but I don’t think there are enough of those homes these days.
