Antiques That Caught My Eye (Over £500)

ree

Good golly, Miss Molly — going to Frieze Masters last week was the first time I’ve truly wanted to be a millionaire. Well, perhaps not the first, but the yearning to own some of those works of art really took me by surprise. Antiques have much the same effect on me. For most of the below, one doesn’t need to be a great millionaire — just someone with a little weight to their pocket.

Peanut Vendor and Punch The Clock both conjure up selections I’d happily take home every week. The sculpture below makes me extraordinarily happy; someone really ought to build a room around it. As for kitchen islands, the only one worth having belongs in the stock of Socitique — what a kitchen that would be.

Old Heal’s furniture is the bee’s knees. Miles Griffiths always has a terrific selection under his wing, and the Antique Dressing Chest below is quite marvellous. Stowaway has a particularly good gateleg table — both pieces are delightfully reasonable, over £500 but not by too much.
