So here we are again, on the hunt for pieces that can brighten a corner without breaking the bank. I know that even £100 can feel a little steep, but it’s a nice, round number that will do us fine for this exercise.
The homeware market is currently dominated by an aesthetic that has, frankly, overstayed its welcome—stripes, checkerboard, and scallops have been putting in serious shifts over the past few years. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s time they took a well-earned break. Of course, there are always exceptions (and yes, I’ll admit I’ve probably included a few below—it’s hard not to when you’re working with a three-digit price tag). But I think we’re all in agreement on this one.
I’ve steered clear of the bigger names in homeware—your Zaras, your H&M Homes. You know the drill. Their stock is either a dreary imitation of something better or so wildly overpriced that you might as well head straight to Pimlico Road. More on that another time. For now, I hope something here catches your eye.
