Christopher Horwood Will Green Furniture Collection
Tabley Daybed, Photographed by Christopher Horwood

One of my favorite things in the world is talking the day away with antique dealers. There is no better way to spend time than discussing the intricacies of the market: Has their summer been as deadly slow as mine? Any exciting new additions to their stock? Did you see so-and-so's stand? Etc. It could go on for hours, if not for the diary constraints of my telephone companions. So when I got the chance to get on the phone with Will Green at Ron Green, I jumped at it. This time, it wasn’t just to gossip about the industry but to learn more about Will's new furniture collection.

One should pay attention to the curation of antique dealers; there are no people more in tune with furniture, and, in my opinion, trends, than antique dealers. This isn’t meant as a reflection on myself. I consider Tat a company dealing in decoration, and I often refer to myself as a decorative dealer (usually followed by quite the explanation). But for those like Will, who have cut their teeth young and have a deep passion for the craft, they are who you should trust for your furniture needs. Who would you rather rely on? A company driven by profit margins or a dealer who truly values craftsmanship, one who has bet their entire working life on it?

Ron Green Antiques is a family-run dealership based in Northamptonshire. It has been in business since 1955, founded by Ron Green and his son Michael. Now spanning four generations, the business is run by Will's father, Nick, and Uncle Chris.

Will joined the company over ten years ago, and in recent years, he set up his own branch. What unites both sides is their focus on elegance and authenticity—something that can only come from an astounding depth of knowledge. It is that knowledge that Will has drawn from for his next venture: a furniture collection of his own.

The inspiration for this collection comes from the countless pieces that have passed through his hands. Like many dealers, Will's mind is full of those exquisite pieces that have come and gone, so what better way to preserve such beauty than to create his own collection? Collection No.1 features the angelic Tabley daybed, the winsome Herbert sofa, and the stoic Repton mirror. All these pieces and more come together to form a beguiling debut collection.
