Wallpaper - there is something about it. I am fascinated by the stuff but also a little terrified. I moved into a new house last year and have yet to wallpaper a room. It's a little pathetic of me, but when moving into a house, the dampness, the windows, and the structure trump any aesthetic tweaks. So now we are a year and a half in. Perhaps with a little more money in the bank for frivolity (not much, mind you). My mind has turned a little more to decoration. What terrifies me about it is the trend to wallpaper everything (headache-inducing stuff). Stripes here, checks there, and florals everywhere - it's not for me. If I put a wallpaper up, I will have meditated on it for a while. The tented stripe by Farrow & Ball has been a favourite of mine for some time. The wallpapers of Lewis & Wood are no flash-in-the-pan trends. Their collections have been considered and thoroughly thought through. With the invention of digital printing, there has been some absolute crap released to the market. Hence finding affordable, attractive wallpaper is a little harder now as you have to wade through that crap to get to the good stuff. I always have a soft spot for Colefax. They speak to my love of the 8os, soft focus and comfy rooms. I have added a little section on borders. This is the first time I have thought of borders, but as CommonRoom and Studio Atkinson have released such marvellous collections, it would have been remiss to miss them out.
