I'm sure you've organised a plentiful summer full of fruitful jaunts, the kind that will keep you occupied and save summer '26 as one to remember. But if you're anything like me, you might see the summer slipping away in front of your eyes. That's fine, dear friend, don't worry. Not everyone can sprinkle their summer adventures across Instagram for a baying public to consume. One or two of us need to stay on the ground to make sure the economy doesn't grind to a halt, at least until we join our European cousins and take the whole of August off.
But in case you're in need of a brief holiday and feeling daunted by the lack of escape, I thought I'd do you a favour and jot down a few of our favourite spots, a quick overview of some of the houses that still have availability in August.
