15 UK Furniture Restorers Preserving the Past, April 2026

It will come as no surprise to you that we felt this a necessary subject to shine a light on. In a world of consumerism and trends, we want to fight against such ghastliness , against fast furniture and throwaway culture, while championing the patronage of the skilled and the caring. This is why we wanted to delve into the world of Furniture Restorers: those talented hands whose love for furniture and the craftsmanship of the past drives them to preserve these important pieces - family heirlooms, and chairs we just like, for the future.

London

What is your speciality?

We are conservators of furniture, picture frames and almost anything else made of wood such as historic panelling and decorative elements like gilding, lacquer and carving; including structural and decorative surfaces. We work for institutions public institutions such as the National Trust, as well as museums and private individuals. We have a small workshop in Camberwell, larger premises out in Sussex and Hampshire and work in situ as well.

What is your lead time?

As to lead time, I suppose it depends on the job but we’re generally able to take things right away and turn them around as quick as the client needs.

65 Jeddo Road, London, W12 9ED

What is your speciality?

At Titian Studio, we specialise in fine furniture restoration, bespoke design, and decorative finishes. Our work ranges from the careful conservation and restoration of antique and heritage pieces to the creation of contemporary, high-end finishes for private clients, interior designers, and commercial spaces. We are particularly known for our ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, approaching each piece with sensitivity to its history while ensuring it meets the aesthetic and functional demands of today. Alongside restoration, we also collaborate closely with designers on bespoke furniture and large-scale decorative installations, offering both technical expertise and creative input throughout the process.

What is your lead time?

Lead times vary depending on the nature, complexity, and scale of each project. Larger commercial or decorative schemes (particularly those involving multiple pieces or on-site work) can run over the course of several months to a year. In contrast, individual items or highly specialised restoration pieces typically have a shorter lead time, depending on the level of detail and processes involved. As each project is unique, we assess timelines on a case-by-case basis, ensuring sufficient time is allocated to achieve the highest standard of craftsmanship and finish.

Unit 6, Salterton Workshops, Station Road, Budleigh Salterton, EX9 6RN

What is your speciality?

We have been restoring furniture for over 30 years and the trend is always changing, early on it was all about period Antiques along with interiors (staircases/bannisters /paneling). Along with the odd restoration of Pullman train carriages, the work is varied at times.

Andrew And Mark Hoskins

Little Shelford, Cambridge, CB22 5HF

What is your speciality?

That we pretty much do all sorts in the restoration line. I think on a national level the most unusual thing that we do is rush seating and cane seating. Restoration workshops seem to be somewhat less common than they were a few years ago and establishments that do rush and cane seating are rarer still.

What is your lead time?

Our lead times are somewhat abstract, but we generally manage to fit in with customers' requests. Several months to a year is certainly not uncommon, though. Patience is a virtue.
