To Build Perchance To Dream: Homes With Potential

7th June 2025

Old Tudor-style house with ivy-covered walls, red-tiled roof, and green garden. Brick path and wall in foreground under a blue sky.
£475k Grade II Listed House,

This is slowly becoming my favourite feature. We have houses from £400k, like the one above, to £2 million. It gives one a real opportunity to believe you could bring one of these properties back to life.

Yes, of course, many of those below don’t need much—some are genuinely just due a tidy-up. But there are others, others that will need a good amount of money or know-how. And with those ones, I have to say, they give me far more heart than much of what’s currently on the market.

They don’t hide behind magnificent facades, harbouring shiny walls, faux crittall windows, and hideously built-in joinery. Those houses—however beautiful their exterior might be—feel lost. Very few people can bring them back to real beauty, though many will revel in their flat, spotlight-filled surroundings.
