Well, we’ve got ourselves into a bit of a muddle. I’ll put my hands up — this was bound to happen eventually. We’re stuck between a rock (homes with potential) and a hard place (the budget).
When you don’t have a budget, your eyes start drifting toward the low-base thrill of snooping around gargantuan estates. From the outside, they’re the sort of homes we’d give our eye teeth for. But step inside and — forgive me — what awaits is often soul-sucking interior design, the sort that would be more at home in a train station hotel than a 19th-century masterpiece. Somewhere, an interior designer is walking away with a bag full of cash, and their client is left with a house that looks like a boutique airport lounge.
