iorObjects I Would Gladly Lock in Room
I am so sorry about this. I feel that perhaps one or two of you may be offended by my choices below. It is, of course, only my opinion. I am no arbiter of taste like Nicky Haslam. My own home gives most people a faint sense of unease and makes concentration rather difficult, so believe me there are plenty of pieces I have bought that others would recoil at.
But I felt the need to put the following down on paper. As you will know, I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at mountains of Airbnbs and houses for sale. These are the pieces that, when I see them, I cannot do anything but stare. They spread themselves across a photograph, dominating the room, and leave me feeling rather drained by the sheer force of commercialisation and the determination to sell objects that are, to my eye, deeply unattractive.
This list could have gone on and on, and in some cases I could have been far ruder. I have tried to avoid calling out particular products. Yes, the examples below do come from specific shops, an odd affectation of ours, to then direct you to the shop once we have been so rude about them. But in truth these are designs that are everywhere. Almost every shop has its version. These are simply the poor souls who happened to provide a clear example of what I was after.
Everywhere, these chairs are everywhere. Why oh why anyone would need something so hideously generic is beyond me. They are not the worst offenders on this list.
